Music Hero Martyn Is Dead…

Music Hero Martyn Is Dead At 60.

JOHN MARTYN, one of Britain’s most respected singer songwriters, died yesterday, aged 60. A skilled guitarist and earthy vocalist influenced by folk, blues and many other musical styles, he performed with Eric Clapton, David Gilmour and Phil Collins among others. ‘He was uncompromising, which made him infuriating to some people, but he was unique and we’ll never see the likes of him again,’ Collins said. Martyn, born kin David McGeachy, grew up in Glasgow. His 40-year career produced many highlights, including the albums Solid Air and Grace And Danger, as well as countless concerts where Martyn’s unique personality shone through. Martyn had health problems and, in 2003, had a leg amputated but continued to perform. He died of pneumonia in Ireland.
