Martyn Goes For The Big One

Martyn Goes For The Big One.

JOHN MARTYN releases a new album on WEA at the end of August and heads out on a month-long British tour in mid-September.

The album is called ‘Well Kept Secret’ and includes nine new Martyn songs plus a version of ‘Never Let Me Go’ recorded by 50’s soul star Johnny Ace. The tour is the biggest he’s ever undertaken in this country and he’ll be backed by a band consisting of Jeff Allen drums, Danny Cummings percussion, Alan Thompson bass and Jim Prime keyboards.

He starts at Southend Cliffs Pavilion on September 17 and then plays Guildford Civic Hall 18, Malvern Winter Gardens 19, Manchester Free Trade Hall 20, Liverpool Philharmonic Hall 21, Newcastle City Hall 23, Dundee Caird Hall 24, Aberdeen Capitol 25, Inverness Eden Court Theatre 26, Glasgow Pavilion 27, Edinburgh Playhouse 29, Birmingham Odeon October 1, Croydon Fairfield Halls 3, Nottingham Rock City 5, Lancaster University 6, Hanley Victoria Hall 7, Sheffield City Hall 8, Leeds University 9, Oxford Apollo 10, Durham University 12, Bradford University 13, Southampton Gaumont 15, Cardiff University 16, Bristol Colston Hail 17, Norwich East Anglia University 19, Brighton Dome 21, London Hammersmith Odeon 22.

There are another half dozen dates to be added to this schedule so it’s just as well that John has recovered from his recent accident when he unwisely attempted to vault a fence.
