Colston Hall, Bristol

What a relief: a great gig with the great man in fine form. Laughing and joking with the audience and claiming that “weebles wobble but they don’t fall down”, JM and the boys delivered a great set that included Carmine, May You Never, Easy Blues, Johnny Too Bad, Big Muff, Never Let Me Go, Rock Salt and Nails, Lookin’ On, She’s a Lover and Solid Air. There were plenty more but I was having too much of a good time to take notes. There are still a few signs of rust – but who cares? Certainly not the Bristol audience who roared their approval throughout the two one-hour sets. This man howls, rocks, funks and grooves like nobody else – long may he continue! The only disappointment of the night was the unavailability of his new album for purchase at the venue. Somebody give marketing a slap.
