Still working my way through this set - it's a pleasure not to be rushed. Absolute delight. Has the Hanging Lamp vinyl been delayed, however?

Box is marvellous. Some cd's are deleted, such as Sapphire and Peace By Piece. So for completists, not from the first hour, it's a wellness for the heart and ears.

A follow up for the WEA-albums and the other ones would be nice.

Box set looks fantastic and just started listening to the glorious The River. Those first couple of albums have a wonderful innocence and musicality. A vinyl version of the whole set would be good.
A remastered version of Then Play On by Fleetwood Mac; a deluxe box set of Family albums and Tescos selling The Essential John Martyn ( a bit of trade description licence there) for £3. These are halcyon days for retro releases indeed.

Excellent box set and a dazzling array of fabulous tracks. In fact everything you could ever want from JM in his musical prime.

The photo album is really nice too. One minor gripe (and it is only very minor) is that there aren't many indications on who's who, in the pictures.

Does anyone know why they used an alternative take of The Easy Blues on Solid Air? The rest of the box set does not mess with the original albums- all alternatives/demos etc are bonus tracks....wonder why this one is different?

An awesome collection of tracks, videos, photos and text - a wonderful tribute to John Martyn. The book is very well researched and illustrated with newspaper cuttings, posters, recording notes, graphics, etc. The grand collection of CD's is supplemented with numerous Previously Unreleased tracks, which are captivating and reveal a new "shade" of John Martyn.

The Island Years has been compiled and written with great dedication - thank you John Hillarby

The Island Box set seems really very interesting but it's a little too expensive for me ! Anyway I already have all John Martyn cds including the deluxe editions... Who knows, maybe a budget edition will come with only the unreleased tracks in the future ?

Received the box set this morning. Gob-smackingly deluxe! Worth its (hefty) weight and the audio (so far) sounds far out. Thank you, thank you for all your work on this… the big man will be grinning down from the Pearly Gates.
