Took my husband along who, when hearing I had got tickets, said “Oh Jesus, not that groaning fat Scottish tosser!” It was a wonderful gig. John is enormous and seemed to have difficulty getting on and off the stage. However, his hands are as fast as ever and he gave a truly wonderful acoustic rendition of, among others, May You Never and Jelly Roll. He told jokes and seemed to be enjoying himself. The whole band were very tight but as usual, no encore and no interval. New stuff sounded great but the sound mixing was dire. The sound man had his head chewed off by an irate audience member and after four numbers he seemed to get the idea that we had come to hear John rather than just the bass player. A truly great performance and a husband who has since purchased Live in Kendal.
