Nine Years

It’s hard to believe that nine years ago today (29th January 2009) we lost John.

To mark this anniversary for a limited time only listen to John play The Dealer and Solid Air in Regent’s Park, London in 1978.

Our thoughts are with John’s loved ones and family.  So raise a glass to ‘Our John’, put your favourite album on and celebrate “the cool bit” – the music.

Gone – too late!

Volker Bredebusch

It is hard to believe that it is one year since Volker passed away. We announced Volkers passing here-

It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Volker Bredebusch, promoter, friend and perhaps most of all a massive fan of everything John Martyn!

Volker promoted and tour managed for John in Europe for many years and also recently helped Beverley by organising a tour of Germany. Volker had an infectious enthusiasm, a great sense of humour and an encyclopedic knowledge of music!

He had beaten cancer once but it returned early last year with a vengeance, “life brought another unexpected surprise at the very start of the new year, after a sudden thrombosis in my right leg I couldn’t move and finally at the hospital they found a tumor beside my liver. So after 7 years without, I’ve got the C Blues again, well well well,  I’m with the experts now in Essen and they’re known to be among the best in Germany for this. Let’s see what they can do, I will hold my head up high and keep on moving, hoping the slow train doesn’t come around the bend too soon..”

Volker lost his hard fought battle with cancer on 5th September 2016. Our thoughts are with his family, particularly Jürgen and his ‘almost family’ Ian. Rest in peace Volker.

Eight Years

Eight years ago today (29th January 2009) the world lost the most innovative singer-songwriter and guitarist it had ever known.

John’s passing was announced to the world here on his website, “With heavy heart and an unbearable sense of loss we must announce that John died this morning.”

We are fortunate to have the wonderful legacy of music that John left us. On this, the eighth anniversary of his passing, our hearts reach out to John’s family and loved ones. We all miss ‘Our John’, in our own personal way, but their loss is so much greater than ours.

Be still, be still inside your heart
Try forever, just try…
Be sweet forever
Forget me never
You know the Lord is true.

Raise a glass to ‘Our John’, put your favourite album on and celebrate “the cool bit” – the music.

I don’t want to know about evil, only want to know about love.
